Ajman Free Zone is one of the UAE's oldest and most affordable free zones, established in 1988. It gives entrepreneurs and investors 100% foreign ownership, a fully digital setup process, and a legitimate UAE trading entity from AED 5,500. With direct access to Ajman Port and Airport, it is a practical base for trading, services, and industrial businesses across the Northern Emirates.
Excellent
Established in 1988; home to 9,000+ companies
100% foreign ownership, no local sponsor required
Fully digital, remote company setup available
Commercial, service, industrial, and e-commerce licenses
Close to Ajman Port and Airport for easy logistics access
Established in 1988, Ajman Free Zone is one of the oldest and most affordable free zone authorities in the UAE. It was built to give entrepreneurs access to a real UAE business address, full ownership, and a legitimate trading entity, without locking them into the cost structures of Dubai or Abu Dhabi.
AFZ sits within the emirate of Ajman, the smallest by geography but one of the most strategically positioned. It borders Sharjah and sits adjacent to Ajman Port and Ajman Airport, giving businesses efficient access to sea and air freight routes without the congestion costs of larger emirates.
What makes AFZ relevant in 2026 is not just its price point. The authority has gone fully digital, supports remote incorporation for international investors, and now offers a Dual License pathway for companies that want to operate on the UAE mainland without a second entity. It is a genuinely modern setup inside a cost-efficient framework.

What Does an AFZ Setup Cost in 2026?
Ajman Free Zone is one of the most affordable UAE jurisdictions for company formation. Costs vary by license type, workspace, and visa allocation. Here are indicative ranges to plan against.
Starter
AED 5,500 to AED 9,000
Zero or one visa allocation, flexi-desk or smart desk, single activity license. Entry point for solo founders, freelancers, and digital businesses.
Standard
AED 13,000 to AED 25,000
One to two visa allocations, executive office or shared workspace, single or multiple activities. Suits small teams and growing service businesses.
Enterprise
AED 25,000 and above
Multiple visa allocations, warehouse or land unit, multi-activity license. Built for trading operations, manufacturers, and businesses with larger space and headcount needs.
What Affects Your Total Cost
License Type
Industrial and multi-activity licenses carry higher base fees than service or freelancer permits.
Workspace Choice
Flexi-desk is the most affordable; executive offices and warehouses add significantly to your annual cost.
Visa Allocation
Each visa adds approximately AED 3,000–6,000 including medical and Emirates ID processing fees.
Activity Count
Adding multiple activities to a single license increases the base registration fee.
Attestation
Foreign corporate shareholders must attest documents, which adds cost and time to the process.
Important Note
All costs are indicative only and subject to change without notice. RIZ & MONA Consultancy provides a full personalised quote based on your exact activity, structure, and visa requirements. Contact us before finalising any budget.
Process
How to Start a Company in Ajman Free Zone?
AFZ is one of the fastest free zones to register in the UAE. Most setups complete within five to ten working days when documents are ready from day one. 5 to 10 working days. Here is exactly how the process works.
1
Day 1
Define Your Business Activity
Confirm the exact activities your company will conduct. Wrong activity codes are the most common cause of banking rejection and costly post-registration amendments.
2
Day 1–2
Select Your License Type and Package
Choose between Commercial, Service, Industrial, E-Commerce, or Freelancer. Confirm your office type and visa quota at this stage, as both affect your total cost.
3
Day 2–3
Reserve Your Trade Name
Submit your preferred company name to AFZ for approval. Names must comply with UAE naming regulations and cannot duplicate existing registrations.
4
Day 3–5
Submit Your Application and Documents
Complete the online application and upload all required documents. AFZ's fully digital system allows this to be done remotely from outside the UAE.
5
Day 4–6
Receive Initial Approval
AFZ reviews your submission and issues conditional approval. This is not yet a trading license but confirms your application has been accepted.
6
Day 5–8
Sign Documents and Pay Fees
Sign your incorporation documents, confirm your workspace arrangement, and pay all applicable registration and license fees.
7
Day 7–10
License Issued, Begin Visa and Banking
Your AFZ trade license is active. Apply for your investor visa, begin employee visa processing, and start your corporate bank account application in parallel.

Documents Required for AFZ Company Formation
Prepare these documents before you start. Having everything ready avoids delays at the free zone authority and later at the bank.

How We Help With Banking
Profile Assessment: RIZ & MONA prepares your full banking file before submission and matches your business profile to the right bank based on your activity, structure, and residency status.
Bank Matching: Our CEO Rizwan Anjum has built direct relationships with UAE banks over 15 years. That access makes a real difference in getting your account approved.
Application Submission: We prepare your complete banking file and submit it to the matched bank, ensuring all documentation meets their compliance requirements.
Applying before your AFZ license is fully issued can cause immediate rejection at most banks.
Choosing a bank that does not serve your nationality or activity can waste weeks on an application that was never going to be approved.
Submitting incomplete or inconsistent UBO documentation can trigger enhanced due diligence and extended delays.
Sending a business profile without clear transaction flow makes it difficult for the compliance team to assess your account.
Attempting remote opening without confirming the bank's non-resident policy can create avoidable delays.
