Dubai Maritime Authority (DMA), under the Ports, Customs and Free Zone Corporation, has officially launched a Remote Technical Inspection Service aimed at simplifying the renewal process for marine vessel licenses. Announced on May 21, 2025, the service caters to pleasure marine vessels up to 12 meters, water sports crafts, and visiting foreign vessels — allowing inspections to be carried out online without physical presence.
In line with the UAE’s vision for smart governance, this initiative reflects Dubai’s continuous commitment to innovation and digital transformation. Sheikh Dr. Saeed bin Ahmed bin Khalifa Al Maktoum, CEO of DMA, emphasized that the service aligns with the directives of H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum to enhance government services, streamline procedures, and eliminate bureaucracy.

Sheikh Saeed noted.
Designed to promote seamless maritime compliance, this service ensures safety and quality while reducing time and effort for vessel owners. Customers can book an inspection via DMA’s official portal or contact the Maritime Registration Department. Once confirmed, a checklist must be completed, after which a secure virtual session link is sent.
During the session, the inspector and the client connect remotely to verify all necessary inspection points. The session is recorded with the customer’s consent, maintaining transparency and aligning with international digital governance standards.
Hamed Hassan, Director of the Maritime Registration Department, explained that post-inspection, a detailed report is shared via email and also accessible through the client’s DMA portal account. This streamlined process ensures faster turnarounds and boosts overall customer satisfaction.
This move is a significant leap forward in Dubai’s maritime digital services, reinforcing the city’s role as a global leader in smart, accessible, and efficient government service delivery. DMA’s remote inspection innovation is expected to become a benchmark in the region for similar services.
