Free Zone Overview

What Is SPC Free Zone? SPC Free Zone

SPC Free Zone was established in 2017 under the vision of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al-Qasimi as the world's first free zone built around print and publishing. It has since grown into a multi-sector hub supporting over 1,500 business activities.

The free zone sits in the Al Zahia district of Sharjah on the E311 highway, roughly 15 minutes from Dubai International Airport and under 10 minutes from Sharjah International Airport. A real cost advantage over Dubai with daily access to both emirates.

SPC combines speed, pricing, and flexibility that is hard to match. Licenses issue in as little as 45 minutes, packages scale from solo founders to teams needing 20 visas, and the dual license gives direct mainland access without a separate local entity.

SPC is operated by the Sharjah Book Authority, the body behind the Sharjah International Book Fair, the largest book fair in the Middle East. That institutional backing gives the free zone regulatory credibility and an international publishing network most zones cannot offer.

2026 Pricing

How Much Does an SPC Free Zone Setup Cost? Cost

SPC is among the most affordable UAE free zones. What you pay depends on visa count, workspace type, license duration, and whether you add the dual license for mainland access.

Zero Visa License

AED 6,875 to AED 9,000

Trade license and registered address only. No visa allocation. Best for e-commerce operators and remote founders who need a UAE license without the immigration component.

Single Visa Package

AED 8,475 to AED 13,000

Includes license, establishment card, e-channel, one visa allocation, medical, and Emirates ID. The most common starting point for founders relocating to the UAE.

Multi-Visa and Office Package

AED 15,000 to AED 30,000+

For companies needing two or more visas, private office space, or the dual license for Sharjah mainland access. Cost scales with visa count and office size.

What Affects Your Total Cost

  • Visa Count

Each residence visa adds AED 3,500 to AED 4,500 in processing, medical, and Emirates ID costs.

  • Office Type

Co-working and flexi-desk are lowest cost. Furnished private offices are priced per square metre annually.

  • Dual License

Adding Sharjah mainland access comes at a premium above the standard free zone license fee.

  • License Duration

Multi-year licenses may offer savings compared to annual renewals depending on the package.

  • Regulated Activities

Certain activities require external approvals, adding time and cost to the process.

  • Warehouse Space

Annual rates per square metre vary by unit type for businesses needing physical storage.

Important Note

All figures are indicative for 2025 and 2026. Final costs depend on your activity, office choice, visa count, and any regulatory approvals needed. RIZ & MONA Consultancy provides a personalised quote at no charge before you commit.

Process

How Do You Set Up a Company in SPC Free Zone?

SPC Free Zone is designed for speed. Once your documents are ready, the process moves quickly through each stage. Most founders complete incorporation and visa stamping within 7 to 10 working days. Here is what that journey looks like, step by step.

Day 1

Choose Your Business Activities and License Type

Start by confirming which activities your business will operate under and which license category they fall into. SPC Free Zone supports over 1,500 activities. Picking the right combination at this stage prevents issues with banking and visa approvals later.

Day 1

Select Your Legal Structure and Package

Decide whether you are setting up as a Free Zone Establishment (FZE) or a Free Zone Company (FZC), and choose the package that matches your visa and workspace requirements. If the dual license is needed, confirm this at this stage as well.

Day 1

Reserve Your Trade Name

Submit your preferred trade name to the SPC Free Zone authority for approval. Names must comply with UAE naming regulations. Once cleared, the name is reserved in your company's registration file.

Day 1–2

Submit Application and Documentation

Provide the required documents, including passport copies, application forms, and any supporting materials for your chosen activity. SPC Free Zone's digital portal processes standard applications rapidly, with license issuance in as little as 45 minutes when all documents are in order.

Day 2–3

Receive Trade License and Incorporation Documents

Once approved, your stamped trade license and Memorandum of Association are issued. You are now a registered SPC Free Zone company. The establishment card registration with UAE immigration begins at this stage.

Day 3–5

Visa Application and E-Channel Registration

Apply for the investor residence visa and any employee visas. The e-channel is registered and the refundable deposit is submitted. SPC Free Zone's onsite immigration team handles the processing, which significantly reduces turnaround time.

Day 5–10

Medical Test, Emirates ID, and Visa Stamping

Complete the medical fitness test in the UAE, submit biometrics for the Emirates ID, and attend the residency visa stamping appointment. SPC Free Zone's in-house immigration team manages this entire sequence. Most founders receive their stamped visa and Emirates ID within 7 working days of entering the UAE.

Requirements

What Documents Do You Need to Set Up at SPC Free Zone?

Document preparation is the step that either speeds up or delays your company formation. Getting it right before submission means your license can issue the same day.

  • Recent passport-size photograph on a white background
  • Completed SPC Free Zone application form
  • Proof of residential address (utility bill or bank statement, dated within 3 months)
  • UAE entry visa or current visa status copy (if already in the UAE)
  • No Objection Certificate (NOC) from current UAE employer or sponsor (if applicable)

For Corporate Shareholders

Documents originating outside the UAE may require notarization and attestation through the relevant UAE embassy or consulate in the issuing country. Requirements vary by nationality and by business activity. RIZ & MONA Consultancy reviews all documents before submission and advises on any attestation steps needed.

Residency

UAE Visa Options Through SPC Free Zone UAE Visa Options

An SPC Free Zone license entitles your company to sponsor UAE residence visas for shareholders, employees, and dependents. Visa count depends on your package. Select plans allow up to 20 visas.

SPC Free Zone is one of the faster zones for visa processing in the UAE. Immigration services are managed onsite, removing the back-and-forth that slows things down at zones without in-house facilities.

  • Investor / Partner Visa: 3-year, renewable
  • Employee Work Visa: 2 or 3 years
  • Dependent Visa: spouse and children
  • Domestic Worker Visa: where applicable
  • Green Visa: 5-year self-sponsored residency

Banking

Which Banks Work With SPC Free Zone Companies? SPC Free Zone Companies

SPC Free Zone companies are well-regarded by UAE banks and accepted without friction at most major institutions.

Banking decisions rest entirely with the bank, so how your application is prepared still matters.

Realistic Bank Account Timelines

  • UAE Resident Applicant

    2 to 4 weeks

  • Non-Resident Applicant

    6 to 12 weeks

  • High-Risk Activity Profile

    8 to 16 weeks

  • Digital Bank Alternative

    3 to 7 days

How RIZ & MONA Helps With SPC Banking

  • Profile Assessment: Our team reviews your business model, license type, ownership structure, and activity to identify the most suitable banking institution for your SPC Free Zone company before any application is submitted.

  • Bank Matching: We match your company to the right banking institution based on your activity category, shareholder profile, residency status, and expected transaction pattern.

  • Documentation and Introduction: We prepare your banking file to meet compliance expectations and help position your application clearly before it reaches the bank's review team.

  • The free zone has no influence over the bank's approval decision. Prepare your file as if it stands entirely on its own.

  • Never submit without a business plan and proof of activity. Incomplete applications are the most common cause of delays.

  • Match your bank to your activity. Some institutions have a track record of rejecting specific license categories.

  • Non-resident applicants should arrange a virtual or in-person meeting with the bank before submitting a formal application.
