The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has confirmed that its residents will be able to travel to Armenia without a visa starting July 1, 2025. This new move is expected to boost tourism and make travel easier between the two countries.
Previously, only UAE citizens could enter Armenia without a visa. UAE residents needed a visa on arrival. But now, under the new rule, all GCC residents and citizens — including those from Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Qatar, Bahrain, and Oman — can visit Armenia visa-free for up to 90 days within a 180-day period.
To qualify, your residency permit must be valid for at least 6 months from your travel date.
“This milestone reflects our dedication to making Armenia more accessible to regional travellers,” said Lusine Gevorgyan, Chairman of the Tourism Committee of the Ministry of Economy of the Republic of Armenia. “We look forward to welcoming more guests from the GCC who seek meaningful travel experiences – whether through our ancient monasteries, vibrant food scene, or immersive cultural festivals.”
The Armenian government approved this policy in a recent cabinet meeting. The aim is to strengthen ties with GCC countries and attract more visitors looking for authentic culture, beautiful nature, and new business opportunities.
Armenia has become a popular travel spot for many UAE residents in recent years. It’s just a 3-hour flight away, and airlines like flydubai, Air Arabia, and Wizz Air already operate direct flights.
This new policy is part of a larger initiative by Armenia to allow visa-free entry for residents of the EU, Schengen countries, and the United States, if their permits are also valid for at least 6 months. It follows earlier successful steps: UAE citizens got visa-free access in 2017, Qatar in 2019, and Kuwait in 2022.
