The decision was taken by the cabinet chaired by UAE’s PM and Vice President and ruler of Dubai, Shaikh Mohammad bin Rashid Al Maktoum while several higher ministers were also part of this meeting. It was decided in the meeting that 100% ownership of businesses will be provided to foreign investors while residency visas of 10 years will be given to foreign investors, scientists, innovators, specialists (in scientific, medical, technical and research fields) and exceptional students. Apart from that, minimum 5 years residence visas will be available to all students studying in the UAE.
The cabinet also instructed the respective ministries to review the process for extending residency permits for university students in case they are sponsored by their parents after completion of their studies. After this decision, Shaikh Mohammad expressed his confidence that UAE will remain open for foreigners and will welcome investors and talented persons from all over the globe.
