The turnaround time for the consumer products advertising permit is 3 days in which application is reviewed and approved. The service fee is AED 100 per month (up to AED 1200 a year) and the knowledge & Innovation fee is AED 20. The advertising permit is valid for a minimum of 1 month and a maximum of 12 months, starting from the specified date in the application.

You need to must have these documents before you move on to get the service from the DM:

  • Advertisement or marketing content for your products.

  • Make sure your products are listed on the Montaji System

  • Make sure your company is registered with the Montaji System

  • Additional documents depending on the application’s type ( approved laboratory tests, or clinical studies) if required.

  1. Go to the Dubai Municipality website and log in to the Montaji System to avail of the service.

  2. Search for the advertising permit service and apply for it.

  3. Then upload the required documents.

  4. Next, you need to pay the due fees for this service or other charges if any.

  5. You can check Dubai Municipality’s reply or the status of your application (Approved/Rejected/Incomplete) via the website of the Montaji system.

  6. After some time, go to the website to review the application feedback. If the status is incomplete, you need to read the notes or remarks, upload the necessary documents, and resubmit the application to continue the process.

  7. Once your application is approved, you will receive the electronic permit through your company’s account on Montaji.

If you’re considering advertising consumer products in Dubai, it’s essential to ensure that your products are registered with Dubai Municipality.

If the approved ad content is changed without Dubai Municipality’s formal consent or service conditions are not fulfilled, the advertising permit is canceled. This goes against the laws and rules set by Dubai Municipality at the time, and the relevant authorities take action against the company involved.

Incomplete applications are returned once to allow work on the demanded or necessary comments or corrections. If a resubmitted application lacks the requested documents or fails to address the required changes, it will be rejected.

Plus, failure to resubmit the incomplete application within forty-five days from the reversal date results in automatic cancellation. Similarly, not paying the due charges for the application within forty-five days from the submission date leads to automatic cancellation as well.

There’s no set maximum limit for the number of products that can be listed in the application. Furthermore, the advertised products must belong to the same product group and brand.

Certain restrictions apply to the content of the advertisement which are:

  • Medical (curative) or exaggerated claims are not accepted.
  • Illustrations, pictures, and expressions conflicting with social values and customs are rejected straight away.

Additionally, other official approvals may be required from related governmental entities like the Ministry of Health and Prevention, the Department of Economy and Tourism, Dubai Municipality City Beautification and Public Projects Department – Advertising Section, if deemed necessary.
